Narrative Projects
On Y Va Films develops original, character-led stories combining humour, emotional depth and a strong sense of place.
Building on our award-winning documentary work, we're now developing narrative feature projects, beginning with Blue Box, a comedy-drama set in the English Lake District in 1961.
Blue Box
Original feature screenplay | Comedy-drama | In development
In the summer of 1961, a ramshackle travelling theatre company arrives in a remote Lake District village for an impromptu season. As unexpected friendships and romances blossom, mounting setbacks threaten to bring down the curtain — until the performers and villagers discover just how much they have come to mean to one another.
A warm, gently humorous ensemble story about friendship, community and finding your place in the world.
Winner — Best Feature Entry, Best Script Awards (Autumn 2026)
Written by Neil Emery, Blue Box is currently being developed as a narrative feature, with a view to Emery directing.
